Top Ten Spring 2012 Prom Dresses

The end of March is coming soon and it will be May and June prom time before you know it. There are some great design options currently being advertised for high school students who are awaiting their prom. It is a very exciting time for them.

I love fashion so much and since I have been writing on HubPages, I have done articles on prom dresses in 2009, 2010 and 2011 respectively.

Here are some of the design options that I find to be the prettiest for the year 2012.

The time to start shopping for the beautiful dress that you want is now. Currently, Macys is advertising 20% off their prom dresses plus free shipping.

While short prom dresses seem to be gaining more popularity and many prom dresses are getting shorter and shorter these days, I still like the long ones.

For example, there are some BCBGMAXAZRIA prom dresses in bright and bold colors such as cobalt blue, yellow or purple that I really like and are being sold through Macy's site.

I love purple and this year, the color's popularity is undeniable.

The BCBGMAXAZRIA pleated one shoulder long gown in purple, pictured below is currently being advertised at Macy's for $348.

This is indeed very pricey and a lot of money for a high school student to have to spend on a dress. Saving up for this dress and limiting accessories might be an option for you or perhaps you might like to look for a similar dress in a lower price range.

Somewhat more reasonably priced at $288.00 is the BCBGMAXAZRIA dress below, also available at Macy's. While I usually like brighter colors, I think this is a beautiful dress with understated elegance and pretty draped design in a champagne/ beige color.

This dress is available in navy too but for this particular dress design, I personally prefer the beige. How about you?

At the writing of this hub, this dress is unfortunately available only in size 6 on the Macy's website and seem to be selling out fast.

If you are reading this hub, perhaps you are thinking about your budget and thinking that affordability will be a huge factor in your selecting your prom dress. If that is the case, one of the recommendations that I have is www.therosedress.com. They have a section on their website that especially features more affordable prom dresses. This dress is by Lets fashion and costs $159. It is available in sizes XS-3X. The available colors for you to choose from are purple, fuchsia, turquoise, royal blue, and off white. The color that I like the most here is purple again.

While black is not usually one of my favorite colors for formal gowns, the prom dress below available at Lord and Taylor is classic and elegant. I really like it. It is a belted crossed neckline dress from the Lauren by Ralph Lauren line and costs $184.00.

The pretty peach colored dress below is available at Dillard's for $129. It is stated on the website that the dress was featured in the March 2012 issue of Seventeen magazine.

It is available in sizes 1-13.

In cooperation with Seventeen magazine, Dillard's is also having a sweepstakes to win a prom dress.

The Hailey Logan prom dress below is available at Dillard's for $179.00. I really like the neckline on this dress especially.

The bright prom dress below is a refreshing and unexpected turquoise color great for the time of year (late spring/early summer) that proms are typically held.

This dress is available at www.promgirl.com for $238.00. It is the loose fitting long prom dress by Shimmer. It has an empire waistline, one of my favorite styles and a beaded waist. I love when there is just enough beaded embellishment.

This dress is available in sizes 0-14 and is available in a couple of other colors if you are interested but I love this color!

You'll be happy to know that at Peaches boutique, there is a large range of prices advertised for the prom dresses with some online only deals as inexpensive at $30. I encourage you to visit that site as well.

In terms of design, below is one of my favorite selections available at that particular retailer. It the the Mori Lee dress 8719 for $179. I love this burgundy color. This is actually an online only deal as well. The price has been cut from an original price of $371.

While I do not have a photo available here, I do encourage everyone to take a look at the beautiful dresses at www.jovani.com especially the strapless chiffon style 159764 in coral/ red.

While well tailored and gorgeous, these dresses can be expected to be in the higher price range unfortunately. The price of style 159764 is not even available on the site. You would have to inquire within with the company or at one of the retailers in the "Where to Buy" section.

Many students who are anticipating their proms eagerly but are concerned with the high cost of prom dresses are opting to take the time and try their luck in various sweepstakes.
