Top Ten Spring 2011 Plus Size Prom Dresses

This is my 3rd year writing articles about prom dresses in general usually with some plus size styles integrated in and this is my first year writing a hub specifically dedicated to plus size prom fashion.

There are many styles to choose from this year. While Nordstrom's seemed to be the best go to store for lower sizes, the selection at Macy's seems to be among the best for plus size fashions. 

Cinderella Gowns, Sydney's Closet, Jessica's Fashion, and Prom Girl are some of the additional prominent proprietors with plus sized prom dresses this year. 

While black is often a featured color of plus size fashion, I would also encourage you to look at various bold color choices. Happy shopping for your prom!

I found cinderellagowns.com to be a big go to place for plus size prom dresses. Some of their nicest selections in my opinion are featured below including #8 directly below and my #1 pick this year, a Faviana gown. I definitely notice that many of my favorite picks in both regular and plus sizing are green, blue or teal dresses this year. They are just lovely.:

 The ever popular taffeta fabric seems to be here to stay. While I would typically pick a gown of a different fabric such as chiffon, my choice for #7 above is indeed taffeta and a bright raspberry color. The pleated accordian bodice seems very flattering and provides full coverage for a great plus size prom look. The style SC7024 is available in sizes 14-36 at Sydney's Closet for $269.

As you can see, I generally prefer long dresses for formal attire but this short dress above is the ideal shorter dress with enough coverage (to the knee) at the bottom and on top as well. If the yellow should seem like a bit much, it is also available in various colors including eggplant (violet) which I like the most.

Choice #5 above is very pretty and available in several colors including gold and burgundy but I really like it in this navy color. It is available up to size 20 at jessicasfashion.com for $299. They also consider it to be one of the best dresses they have.

 I love a pretty gown in the yellow family of colors when I can find one. The gown above and quite a few of the others featured in this hub is available at promgirl.com, an on-line prom superstore where you can find a huge selection of dresses. This one shoulder yellow formal dress costs $278 on the site and is available in sizes 14W-32W. It also has that flowy chiffon fabric that I have been liking very consistently, as several of the dresses I list here are like that.

 The All the Right moves dress above earns big points for its appealing look. I love the flowy hemline and I'm often a fan of one shoulder dresses. This polyester chiffon dress is available in sizes 14W-32W.
