Color trends in fashion - mustard
By Journey *
I love to watch a good television show when I have time. I have noticed that on television, in magazines and in person, I have seen lots of people wearing the color mustard lately. It's currently in style and I have been reminded how much I like the color for fashion and accessories.
Among the many places I've spotted the color is on the daytime talk show, The Talk. Holly Robinson Peete is a host of the show and often wears very vibrant colors that look great. She recently wore mustard paired with violet and we were reminded what a nice combination of color that is.
Violet and mustard are very complementary. The colors just look so pretty together.
The images to the right are courtesy of like.com, a nicely laid out website that allows you to shop visually, looking at specific colors and pairing colors.
In addition to looking nice with violet, the color mustard looks great with black and white alone or together (mustard and black, mustard and white, mustard, black and white).

The photo below shows us that mustard is appealing when paired with turquoise as well
Mustard has also held steady on fashion runways for years and is just a timeless classic color that is perhaps being worn even more frequently today.
If you dare, you can even wear a mustard colored coat. I love the bold statement that the Steve Madden coat below makes. I think I'll add it to the wish list of items I would like for myself!
Happy Shopping!

Sharon, thanks for posting your nice comment. Glad to remind you of the color:-)
A great hub and thanks for sharing.
I do not have many items of clothing in this colour so now may be the time to remedy this.
Thank you for sharing.
Take care Eiddwen.
You're welcome Eiddwen and thanks so much for posting your nice comment.
Interesting. Some people really hate this color but I actually don't. Well, it depends. I think it could look really cool on clothing and accessories (as shown in your pics) but I'll never paint my room this color lol..Rated up. :)
Hi Om, thanks for posting a comment and for the rating up! I must agree. I wouldn't paint my room this color either.:-)
I'm sorry my comments aren't so nice and apologies for any offence caused. After watching another news report about how bad retail sales are doing at the moment because of the warm weather, consumer confidence, any other excuses, etc, I feel compelled to comment on this year's fashions. I love clothes but this summer was faced with granny fashions. Beige, cream, coral pink with garish gold buttons and gaudy jewelery (fake pearls, fake gold, etc). Frumpy dresses that do nothing for the average figure but make the larger ppl look a little slimmer as they do seem to be cut to the shape of the larger ladies amongst us. Now this season's colour is mustard? with gold buttons, thin frilly material, cut to a frumpy shape - like the stuff my great-gran wears. I get the impression that the high street end of the fashion industry has jumped on the assumption that we all wish to emulate Kate Middleton. The stuff's not selling and I doubt if I'm the only person that has the money to spend but can find no fashion worth spending it on. Am I the only person who feels this way?
Hi Melissa,
It's ok. I don't find it offensive. It's good for you to give your opinion. Thanks so much for taking the time to comment and share your thoughts. You seem clearly disappointed with the fashion choices that are out there these days. Please come back and visit my hubs at HubPages sometime if you can. I do plan to focus on fashion hubs a lot more in the near future. Thanks again for stopping by.
All the best,
